This item presents smith.pl (the reference interpreter for SMITH) running under Perl 5.8.8 running under DOSBox. The Perl install here is severely stripped-down in order to optimize load time; for a full Perl install for DOS, see the Perl 5.8.8 for DOS item.

A menu has been added to make it easier to run some of the example SMITH programs that were included with the distribution.

You can also exit the menu and use DOS commands directly. Note that DOSBox does not handle long filenames, so when referring to files you'll need to use the file's mangled 8.3 name.
